This Privacy Policy describes how whereToStream (“we”, “us”, “our”, “app”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information from its users.
1. Information We Collect
- Images: The app requests access to your device’s camera and photo gallery exclusively to allow you to take or select a photo to identify a movie.
- Analytical Information (Optional): We may collect anonymous usage data (e.g., app crashes, feature usage) to improve the user experience. We do not collect personal identifiable information (PII) without your explicit consent.
2. How We Use Your Information
- The images you select or capture are used momentarily to analyze and identify the movie.
- Processing: Images are sent to an Artificial Intelligence service to perform the analysis.
- Storage: We do not store your images on our servers after the analysis is complete. Images remain on your device unless you choose to save them locally.
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
- Service Providers: We may share the images with third-party AI service providers (such as OpenAI or Google Vision) solely for the purpose of movie identification. These providers do not have the right to use your images for any other purpose.
- No Sale of Data: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or images to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Permissions Requested
- Camera: To allow you to take a photo of a screen or poster.
- Photo Library: To allow you to select an existing image for analysis.
- Note: These permissions are requested only when necessary for the app’s core functionality.
5. Data Retention and Security
- We implement industry-standard security measures to protect any data processed. Since we do not store images on our servers, the risk of data exposure is minimized.
6. Children’s Privacy
- Our app does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
